After being rumored for quite some time, Cadillac has finally officially confirmed a new entry in the compact luxury segment. The vehicle is the code name and ATS from now, the manufacturer has revealed only the first sketch of the car.
This sketch teaser boasts a design language inspired by the CTS sedan, but with different lights and a sportier feel. The small Cadillac will begin production next summer at Lansing Grand River, the same assembly plant in Michigan which is based the award-winning Cadillac CTS midsize sedan, coupe, and wagon.
“The car codenamed ATS is being developed to become the vehicle of a driver in a brand new Cadillac AWD RWD-specific architecture,” said General Motors North America, Mark Reuss. “We have extensively studied a lot and the competitive segment, and we have the best point of reference. And when the car comes out, it will be evident.”
The ATS Cadillac luxury sedan will be launched in 2012 compact. So far, there has been no mention of the ETA-V version is expected sometime in 2013.
